During the Nuggets vs. Spurs game, Wembanyama made history
The San Antonio Spurs have lost 12 straight games, but Victor Wembanyama continues to shine. In Sunday’s game against the Denver Nuggets, Wembanyama scored 22 points, 11 rebounds, 6 steals, 4 blocks, and 2 assists, making him the first rookie in NBA history to do so.
In order to put this line into perspective, only four other NBA players have ever posted a line or better in a single game, even when the rookie qualification is removed. The newest to do so is James Harden in 2019, and three other players have done the same: Hakeem Olajuwon, Karl Malone, and Robert Parish.
As the only player on this list to achieve his stat line in fewer than 30 minutes, Wembanyama played just 24:56 in this game. Olajuwon’s 35 minutes in 1986 are the next rarest on this list. The fact that Wembanyama can accomplish so much as a rookie, and how his performances compare to those of some of the best players of all time, is beyond impressive.
Wembanyama is leading the Spurs to a bright future despite being the worst Western Conference team.
