In an online press conference on Monday to preview the documentary “Un1que” on Canal+, Wembanyama told reporters he did not feel pressured despite the hype surrounding his arrival in the NBA. As he prepares for his first season in the NBA, Victor Wembanyama hopes he will lead the San Antonio Spurs back to the playoffs.

In response to a question about his goals for his first year in Texas, the 19-year-old replied: “To qualify for the playoffs.”

In the 2018-2019 season, San Antonio lost to the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs.

Wembanyama’s arrival, however, has sent expectations skyrocketing among San Antonio fans, as the talented teenager is expected to reverse the franchise’s fortunes immediately.

In their first regular season game of the 2023-2024 season, the San Antonio Spurs take on the Dallas Mavericks on October 25.
